The exhibition "Tantavi" at each place was visited by different categories of people namely; exporters, manufacturers, fashion/textile designers, students and faculty of Fashion/Textile/Art and other academic Industries from India and abroad. The exhibition was largely appreciated by the visitors who also desired to have retail counter for sale of "Tantavi" fabrics.The fabrics/products were also displayed in the exhibition held at Jakarta in March 2002 and Sydney in May 2002 and were highly appreciated.
IMPACT
It generated a drive among the designer community , within the Weaver's Service Centres, to create innovative and exclusive designs, rather than routine and uninspiring designs;
It has initiated a system of pooling in of the resources across the length and breadth of the Country in created awareness among the designers, manufacturers and exporters in the textile sector of the Country in creating a body of design work;
It created awareness among the designers, manufacturers and exporters in the textile sector of the richness of variety available in handloom fabrics;
It brought about direct and intense interaction between the Government and private sectors involved in the handloom sector over a short and concentrated period of time with the active guidance of the highest dignitaries and officials and officials in the sector.
It has created a specific identity in the form of the name "Tantavi" for the body of design work being produced by the Weavers' Service Centres, which can be exploited as a brand of pan-Indian importance.
It has created a platform from which
further such designs based on specific themes can be
launched.
